One of the most rewarding parts of being a successful dentist is the opportunity to help others. Recently, Dr. Griffin had the wonderful opportunity of helping students of the Dental Assisting Class of 2015-2016 at Midlands Technical College as part of his annual speaking engagement at the college. Midlands Technical College offers opportunities for degrees, diplomas or certification in 120 programs of study that can be used as a bridge to a 4-year college or university, or to prepare a student for the workforce. As a proactive college that believes in real-world experience and hands-on training, MTC offers partnerships with local employees and facilities with high-tech equipment. Dentist in Columbia, SC dental assistant lecture. As part of the course in Dental Assisting in the 21st Century, Dr. Griffin gave the eager students a 2-hour lecture on “Making a Great Impression as a Dental Assistant”.  A dental assistant is essentially a dentist’s right arm and their duties require a wide range of both technical and interpersonal skills. Making a patient feel comfortable, safe and confident in their treatment is part of an assistant’s responsibility and it takes a very particular set of skills to be able to do this successfully. Dr. Griffin was happy to share the benefit of his experience and education. Dr. Griffin has been practicing as a dentist in Columbia, SC for over 11 years. He is a Sustaining Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and he took post-doctoral training at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies.  He is very active in teaching, not only on an annual basis with the dental assisting students at MTC, but also by speaking numerous times a year to the dental residents at Richland Memorial Hospital. Dr. Griffin is also a very active participant in the community. The admission for his lecture to the students at MTC was free with a $5 or more donation to the Red Cross for local flood relief efforts. The appreciative comments of the students after the lecture along with their successful acquisition of a certificate to add to their academic course of study were the high points of the evening for Dr. Griffin. We wish the Dental Assisting Class of 2015-2016 success in their studies at Midland Technical College and in their future careers!
